The Cellular Reaction to Intraperitoneally Injected Blood *

The well-known variation in the reactions to hemorrhage in the tissues is the basis of the study presented in this report, dealing primarily with the changes that occur in the extravasated red blood cells and particularly with the monocytic response. The problems of the fat and iron partides found both in the monocytes and elsewhere in the vicinity of hemorrhage are considered in detail, and the influence of hemorrhage on the new formation of granulation tissue will be mentioned, especially from the standpoint of new capillary formation.
